N.Y. County to Underscore UAV Regulation, Safety at Public Forum

The Broome County, N.Y., department of aviation is holding for the public a free information forum on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

According to a news release from the county, the meeting will focus on current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidance and upcoming FAA regulations regarding UAVs, local airspace utilization, safety concerns, and general guidelines for operating UAVs near airports.

The seminar is intended for anyone who is currently or planning to own and operate UAVs in the Greater Binghamton Area, says Broome County.

“We know that more and more people are flying drones as a hobby in our community,” says Debbie Preston, Broome County executive. “This informational session is not to discourage anyone from enjoying the hobby; it’s to make sure everyone is doing so safely and within the guidelines of the FAA.”

The forum will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 27 in the Decker Room at the Jeffrey P. Kraham Broome County Library on 185 Court St. in Binghamton.
