Pix4D has added new supported devices, flight missions and mission settings to its mobile flight planning app, Pix4Dcapture, used for aerial drone mapping.
Now compatible with the app are Parrot’s Skycontroller and the DJI Mavic Pro drone (which was introduced in September of last year).
In addition, all DJI drone pilots can now create circular flight missions, which are ideal for 3D model reconstruction of single buildings or objects, explains Pix4D, adding that these 360-degree flight missions are designed to capture every facet and detail of the object being modeled.
Parrot Bebop 2 pilots will also now have access to the software’s double-grid mission, which is ideal for modeling areas with multiple objects of interest – e.g., a cluster of buildings. This creates what Pix4D calls a “double weave” of data capture, optimizing image overlap and angle.
Lastly, all grid missions are now more adjustable, the company says. Specifically, both frontal and side overlaps can be defined. In turn, drone pilots with time or quality constraints can gain even more control over their grid by tailoring these parameters.
