MSAB, Kovar & Associates Form New Drone Forensics Partnership

MSAB, a provider of forensic technology for mobile device examination, has signed an agreement with Kovar & Associates to work together to expand the drone forensics capabilities offered by MSAB.

David Kovar, president and founder of Kovar & Associates, will serve as a subject matter expert and consultant to MSAB. He will support MSAB’s development of expanded drone forensics capabilities in its XRY and XAMN Spotlight products. XRY enables users to extract data from mobile devices, as well as drones. XAMN Spotlight is the analytical tool for visualizing, searching and analyzing that data.

XRY now supports extraction of data from a number of popular drone models – allowing investigators to see flight path data and other data that can assist their investigations and enforcement activities involving illegal drone use, the companies explain.

At his company, Kovar is leading the development of URSA – Unmanned & Robotics Systems Analysis – a suite of tools designed to collect, integrate, analyze and present drone-related data for purposes including fleet management, criminal investigations, failure analysis and predictive analysis. He has worked in digital forensics and cyber security since the mid 90s, and prior to founding his own company, he led EY’s U.S. incident response program.
