On Sept. 15, Mississippi State University (MSU) is hosting a public meeting featuring regulators, scientists and industry stakeholders working together to integrate unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) safely into national airspace.
Open to the public, the two-hour, two-session event will be hosted by the Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence (ASSURE), which comprises research universities and industry/government partners and operates the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-selected UAS Center of Excellence (COE). MSU leads the ASSURE Alliance.
Beginning at 11 a.m. at the Bryan Athletic Administration Building on the MSU campus, participants will discuss the COE and its role in developing rules regulating commercial UAS.
The event will also include a discussion on opportunities to partner with the center, as well as remarks by Dennis Roberts, the FAA’s southern region administrator.
The session from noon to 1 p.m. will include a question-and-answer period. Both sessions will feature live UAS demonstrations.
