Silent Falcon’s Solar-Electric UAS Adds Another Gimbal Option

Bozeman, Mont.-based Ascent Vision, a provider of gimbal technology, has partnered with Silent Falcon UAS Technologies’ to supply gimbaled payloads for Silent Falcon’s solar-electric unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

Silent Falcon, headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M., manufactures solar-electric-powered drones designed for long-range, long-endurance applications. The aircraft are also capable of operating virtually silently.

In addition to the new preferred-provider agreement, Ascent Vision has also signed an agreement to represent Silent Falcon in its integrated sales efforts. This will help streamline the acquisition of products for customers and increase market penetration, according to the companies.

“The Silent Falcon UAS can easily integrate a wide variety of payloads, and we’ve integrated five different gimbaled payloads so far,” comments John W. Brown, Silent Falcon’s CEO. “The Ascent Vision CM100 is by far the best ISR gimbaled payload we’ve flown in our Silent Falcon UAS. It has been proven in numerous flights for numerous customers in all types of conditions in locations all around the world.”

Ascent Vision manufactures a variety of gimbaled technologies, including the CM100. This dual-sensor, gyro-stabilized gimbal imaging system has been specifically designed for use on UAS. With its light weight and size, the CM100 is easily integrated and mounted into almost any platform, the companies say.

“We are very excited to be selected by Silent Falcon to provide our products for those customers requiring gimbaled payloads for their missions,” says Tim Sheehy, Ascent Vision’s founder and CEO. “The state-of-the-art design and operational capabilities of the Silent Falcon are truly unique, allowing it to be used for a wide range of missions. We look forward to working with them when the mission requires a gimbal payload.”
