Sensoray, a provider of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) electronics for video imaging, data acquisition and machine control, has launched the 2960 Dragon – an ultra-compact, lightweight audio- and video-processing engine.

The 2960 Dragon is only 1.9 in. x 1 in. (4.8 cm. x 2.5 cm.) and weighs 0.22 oz (6.2 g). It captures up to 1920 x 1200 video at 30 frames per second and JPEG snapshots at up to 4096 x 3104.

According to Sensoray, the size, weight and low power requirements make the 2960 Dragon suited for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based video capture.

Packed onto the board’s tiny footprint is a powerful, highly flexible and configurable audio/video processing engine. Featuring a controller and stream router, SD card interface, six GPIOs, and USB (device or host mode), Ethernet, serial COM, and I2C communication interfaces, the 2960 Dragon is also equipped with one input and one output for HD/SD digital video, a stereo digital audio input and output, and a composite NTSC/PAL output. If the USB interface operates in device mode, the board can be completely powered from USB.
