Drone as a Service operator Measure has announced a new strategic partnership with The AES Corp., which will be using Measure’s services to remotely inspect energy infrastructure globally.

AES, a Fortune 200 global power company, provides sustainable energy to 17 countries through its portfolio of distribution businesses, as well as thermal and renewable generation facilities.

According to Measure, the new global services are expected to help AES – which already deploys drones – further improve inspections safety and avoid more than 30,000 hours of hazardous work per year.

“This is the year drone technology gets fully integrated in operations,” says Brandon Torres Declet, CEO of Measure. “At many of the nation’s leading energy companies, we are seeing a push to move beyond the R&D phase and get this technology fully deployed into the field. AES has proven the technology works at scale – with more than 3,000 flights logged in 10 countries. We are excited to be chosen as their strategic partner to ‘make drones work’ at scale across their global portfolio of energy infrastructure and to improve safety and increase availability of their energy solutions in the United States and abroad.”

Bernerd Da Santos, senior vice president and chief operating officer of AES, says the power company is “committed to creating a safer, smarter work environment.”

“Drone technology has proven itself at AES over the last three years: improving safety by reducing hazards across 15,000 hours of work and regularly increasing the availability and productivity of our energy solutions. With Measure, we are making this technology standard across all of our businesses globally as quickly as possible.”
