Meller Optics Inc., a provider of optics for defense, medical, laser and industrial markets, has introduced custom-fabricated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) optics for smaller types of drones.
Meller's UAV optics are ideally suited for use in tiny drones and feature round, sapphire lenses from 0.25 inches and up and partial spheres as small as 0.12 inches and with varying focal lengths.
Available with antireflective coatings for visible to 10.6 microns, sapphire optics are second only to diamond in terms of hardness for demanding applications, the company says.
The optics are also offered in zinc selenide from 0.25 inches and up. Developed for original equipment manufacturers, the products can incorporate stepped edges and other special characteristics for mounting, such as slots or wedges.
