The National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) has released the second edition of its safety resource for unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operations for vertical infrastructure inspections.

The resource is a byproduct of collaboration between NATE’s UAS committee and other representatives from the commercial UAS industry. The intended focus of the document is UAS operations around wireless infrastructure, cellular towers, broadcast towers and utility structures. It also incorporates updates associated with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Part 107 rule for commercial UAS operations.

“The second edition of this safety document will serve as a go-to resource for all workers and stakeholders in the industry to use as a guide in order to expand the safe and efficient commercial operation of UAS,” says Todd Schlekeway, executive director of NATE.

The free resource is available to download here.

NATE also announced today that Art Pregler of AT&T, Christopher Desmond of Verizon Wireless and Robert McCoy of Crown Castle have officially joined the association’s UAS committee.

Besides these three, the committee also comprises the following members: Greg Emerick (Sentera); Jim Goldwater (Bob Lawrence & Associates); John Paul Jones (Tower & Turbine Technologies LLC); Jimmy Miller (MillerCo Inc.); Chris Moccia (Measure); Art Pregler (AT&T); Todd Schlekeway (NATE); and Jim Tracy (Legacy Telecommunications Inc.).
