In a year's time, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) says the country will use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to deliver official documents, such as identity cards, driver's licenses and other permits.
The UAV delivery scheme is part of a program to improve government services, according to article by Sky News. The battery-powered prototype UAV has four rotors and is about 18 inches wide.
The UAV will be ‘tested for durability and efficiency in Dubai for six months before being introduced across the UAE within a year.’
In order to ensure delivery to the correct recipients, the UAE plans to employ fingerprint and retina identification technology.
