Manufacturer Develops Travel-Friendly Backpack for QuadcoptersThink Tank Photo, a Santa Rosa, Calif.-based manufacturer of camera bags and accessories, is releasing what it says is a travel-friendly backpack specifically for users of DJI Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision or other similar-size quadcopters.

The Airport Helipak, coming to the market in February, will easily hold a quadcopter plus a 15″ laptop, controller, GoPros and other accessories – while still complying with airline carry-on size requirements, according to the company. For water-resistance, all exterior fabric has a durable water-repellant (DWR) coating – plus the underside of the fabric has a polyurethane coating.

Movable dividers allow users to customize the fit of their drone gear. The bag also features an adjustable harness with lumbar support and articulated air-channel, an adjustable sternum strap, and removable padded waistbelt to allow for comfort while operators trek by foot or mountain bike into remote areas, for example.

“The last thing drone users want to worry about is if their backpack will hold up in rigorous outdoor conditions,” explains Doug Murdoch, company president and lead designer.
