AI discovery tools are reshaping online gaming experiences

02 October 2026

AI discovery tools are reshaping online gaming, moving discovery away from static charts and tags toward personalised systems that interpret a player's intent, mood and context.

Intelligent Feeds for Personalised Discovery

AI-driven recommendation feeds are now the front door to many platforms' game libraries. Oxide AI’s Spawner promises to be “your portal into game discovery”, offering human-centred AI that naturally expresses user interests. It claims to recommend titles from big hits to hidden gems, with a personal AI buddy tracking game releases, offers and events.

Elsewhere, CARV Play is described on F6S as an AI-powered gamer super-app, providing detailed user profiles, social features and game distribution. Steam, PlayStation and Xbox are all looking to their recommendation engines to predict and suggest content to users.

Chat-Native Game Discovery is Coming

A key trend is platforms making the shift from browsing and searching to conversational AI models.

Thrum.gg has built an early-access AI game discovery engine native to the chat apps messaging platform WhatsApp, with plans for Discord and Telegram to follow. Based on a player’s mood and playstyle, these AI bots suggest games ready to play, no shopping cart or credit card required.

Both Spawner and CARV Play cater to gamers expressing intent via natural language although without integrating directly into chat apps, as yet.

Powering up Personalisation with AI

The key to these recommendation systems is their ability to learn, using a combination of behavioural signals and player inputs. Thrum.gg considers not just what a user likes, but how long and when they play, which parts they enjoy and where and when they abandon the game. Bonus catalogues, www.xcasinobonuses.net included, face the same problem in a simpler form: matching a long list of offers to the person reading it.

A recent paper in ArXiv called 'The AI Wave and the Reinvention of Game Discovery' proposes agentic persona-based matching to personalise suggestions at a scale human curation cannot. It would go further, using data to construct distinct behavioural personas for each user.

Rethinking Discovery for Developers and Platforms

Game discovery is traditionally about best sellers and strong branding. An AI-powered framework that evaluates context and personal intent is already changing the way indie studios surface.

It could mean better solutions for hidden gems and hard-to-promote titles while veteran franchises have to work on personal relevance as well as sales and branding. In this brave new world, a big jump in sales or downloads may no longer be the most valuable metric, as the real focus turns to conversion rates and session length.

Equally, players will be trusting AI to point them at more and more of the open web. 2023 Web Store Principle data showed that among gamers, 31.7% are already playing a game recommended by YouTube, yet only 15.1% were using game platforms themselves as a channel. If platforms expect gamers to stay within their sites, or within their targeted discovery environments, they will have to come up with some smart reasons why.
