Colin Guinn, chief revenue officer of Berkeley, Calif.-based drone developer 3DR, is departing the company after having held the position since February 2014.
In a post on his LinkedIn page, Guinn writes the following:
“These past years at 3DR have been a whirlwind of technology breakthroughs and amazing experiences. From launching the world’s first smart drone, to filming on set w/ Michael Bay, flying a drone for Congress, partnering with companies across the globe to form the first drone hardware ecosystem (Made for Solo) and promoting drone usage worldwide, it’s been an unbelievable journey!”
He does not go into the specifics of his future venture but links to his website, colinguinn.com, to offer an opportunity for anyone to sign up to stay updated. Before joining 3DR, Guinn spent more than three years with Chinese drone manufacturer DJI.
As for the future of 3DR, the enthusiastic Guinn – who opened up last year’s Unmanned Systems show in Atlanta with a dance number to Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What” – notes that “business at 3DR continues as usual.”
