An unmanned aerial systems (UAS) event coming up soon at the University of Maryland will feature Google X's Project Wing director, Dr. Nicholas Roy, as the principal keynote speaker.
The Vertical Take-off and Landing Precision Delivery UAS Symposium and Technical Workshop – hosted on Oct. 21 by the American Helicopter Society-International, the University of Maryland and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) – will also feature dialogue from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the latest regulations governing commercial UAS.
The FAA’s Earl Lawrence; roboticist Dr. Vijay Kumar of the University of Pennsylvania; and Rose Mooney, executive director of the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership (MAAP), are some of the other speakers at the event.
Google will demonstrate its commercial UAS precision delivery capability, and NASA will present its airspace traffic management solution for commercial UAS. In addition, University of Maryland students will unveil their new UAS prototype, and Aurora Flight Sciences will demonstrate a sense-and-avoid technology for small UAS.
