The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) will open the Nevada Advanced Autonomous Systems Innovation Center this summer in downtown Reno.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be among the research topics at the center, and UNR will be looking for partnership opportunities in the private sector, according to an article by the Reno Gazette-Journal.
UNR received financing for the center from Nevada's Knowledge Fund, which is a $10 million research grant. The center will occupy an entire floor of a 25,000-square-foot office building.
In late December 2013, the Federal Aviation Administration selected the State of Nevada as one of six national UAV test site operators.
