Air-Vid, a Web-based community of remote unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) pilots who can connect with customers, says it now includes 500 members, who encompass over 44 countries.
UAV pilots can upload their contact information, location, photos and demo reels, while anyone who needs aerial video, stills or surveys can search the directory to connect with a pilot.
The site benefits both parties, almost acting like a ‘matchmaker service,’ remarks George Gooderham, Air-Vid’s chief marketing officer and one of the founders, along with Patrick Egan and David French.
Air-Vid notes that no transactions are done on the site; rather, pilots manage the transactions with their customers after getting connected.
For example, Sarah Matthews, a project manager for a resort development on Turks and Caicos Islands, was in need of a pilot to take aerial photos of the property. She explains that all she had to do was look up a suitable candidate, who then met her over 1,500 miles away for the job.
