Topcon, which is based in Livermore, Calif., with a European head office in the Netherlands, is a provider of precise positioning products and solutions for the global surveying, construction, agriculture, civil engineering, building information monitoring, mapping and geographic information systems, asset management, and mobile control markets.
St. Leon Rot, Germany-based MAVinci specializes in solutions for aerial surveying and the development of UAS technology.
As the result of the partnership, Sirius – a fixed-wing UAS series guided with Topcon global navigation satellite system positioning and powered by MAVinci technology – will be available worldwide.
“The expansion of our distribution agreement with Topcon to a global scale increases the availability of our products, adding greater value to our global distribution network,” comments Johanna Claussen, CEO of MAVinci.
“The UAS delivers results of two-to-five-centimeter absolute accuracy by using the 100 hZ Topcon GPS module in combination with an advanced integrated camera. The MAVinci autopilot allows for stable and precise navigation even in highly demanding situations,’ Claussen adds.
“The new system is the first commercially available UAS that can reach an extreme level of accuracy without the need for ground control points,” says Eduardo Falcon, executive vice president and general manager for the Topcon geo-positioning solutions group. “By expanding our arrangement to a worldwide level, more companies will benefit from the enormous reduction in operational costs that the high-accuracy aerial mapping system will provide.”
