As quadcopter designs continue to evolve, so, too, do Think Tank Photo’s backpacks: The company has upgraded its Airport Helipak V2.0 to fit the DJI Phantom 4 (or a similarly sized drone) and accessories.
Think Tank Photo, which is based in Santa Rosa, Calif., says the design is carry-on compatible for both U.S. domestic and international flights. A custom divider in the backpack allows room for accessories and gear, and a dedicated compartment can hold a 15-inch laptop.
“We updated the backpack to carry a DJI Phantom 4, a 15-inch laptop, controller, GoPros, chargers, spare rotors, extra batteries, jacket, tools and more,” states Doug Murdoch, Think Tank Photo’s CEO and lead designer. “The contoured adjustable harness with lumbar support, articulated air-channel, removable padded waistbelt, and height-adjustable sternum strap enable comfort for travel into remote areas.”
The backpack also includes features such as a side pocket to hold a tripod attachment or water bottle; internal, mesh pockets for smaller accessories; a rain cover; and a water-repellant coating. Including all accessories, the backpack weighs 4.6 lbs.
