Graford, Texas-based Possum Kingdom East Volunteer Fire Department has acquired three unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) from Oklahoma City-based FireFlight Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
The UAS include an aircraft equipped with a video camera and one equipped with a forward-looking infrared camera, as well as a trainer, according to an article by The Lake Country Sun.
The fire department says the UAS will be used to determine the location and movement of wildfires, whether nearby areas need to be evacuated, and what equipment will be necessary.
The aircraft will also be used to investigate any smoke sightings reported by the public.
