The recently formed Small UAV Coalition, comprising eight technology companies prevalent in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) world, is heading to London to participate in the Commercial UAV Show on Oct. 21-22.
In addition to sponsoring the event, Michael Drobac, executive director of the coalition, and Jennifer Richter, partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, will deliver a presentation entitled “One Small Coalition, One Big Goal: Timely Use of Small UAVs.” The duo will discuss current and future capabilities of small UAVs, regulatory developments in the U.S. and issues related to communication capabilities for small UAVs.
The Commercial UAV Show, the coalition says, is the largest global gathering of the commercial and civil UAV universe. This year, 1,500 attendees, 70 exhibitors and 60 speakers will be on hand at the event.
The Small UAV Coalition was founded by 3D Robotics, Aerialtronics, Airware, Amazon Prime Air, DJI Innovations, Google[x]'s Project Wing, GoPro and Parrot. The coalition is supported by a team of attorneys at Akin Gump.
The group plans to work with the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, the Administration and Congress to pave the way for UAV operations in the U.S. and worldwide.
