After launching a successful Kickstarter campaign last year, Squadrone System has announced its HEXO+ self-operating drone is now available for order in the U.S. and abroad.
The California-based company says the drone can autonomously take off, follow and frame its user while filming with predetermined camera movements, and safely land. These processes are entirely automated using predictive tracking algorithms and initiated with the HEXO+ smartphone application for Apple iOS 9 and Android 4.4 and above.
The six-propeller drone has a maximum speed of 45 mph, offers an operating altitude of up to 16,000 feet, is compatible with most GoPro camera models, and includes a library of 12 pre-programmed camera movements.
Squadrone System says the HEXO+ has received certifications from the Federal Communications Commission, Conformite Europeenne and Industry Canada.
“HEXO+ was built with outdoor adventurers in mind, allowing them to live in the moment and not behind a lens,” says Xavier de Le Rue, co-founder of HEXO+ and a professional snowboarder. “It enables you to capture incredible footage of yourself – by yourself. As a snowboarder, this gives me unprecedented freedom to create and share footage without the expense and constraints of helicopters and a film crew.”
According to Squadrone System, HEXO+ is currently available to purchase on hexoplus.com for $1,349.
