A department of the Indian government is deploying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to take photos of rooftop solar arrays in the City of Chandigarh.
The Tribune reports that the Chandigarh Renewable Energy Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) enlisted the help of a local agency to operate the aircraft, which snapped 1,000 aerial shots, as well as a collective video, of around 20 projects.
CREST, which went with aerial photography to capture more angles of the rooftop projects than ground-based photography was providing, will show the photos in a presentation to the country’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
