Mountain Aviation Inc., an aircraft management and charter company based in the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado, says it recently received an exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to commercially fly drones.
The company claims to be the first FAA-certified airline to receive this authorization. With 23 years of experience in operating private jets, Mountain Aviation says it is now expanding into the commercial drone space.
The company says its drone operations will include aerial mapping, agricultural support, industrial inspections, search and rescue, energy system inspections, and forestry and wildlife monitoring.
“As an air carrier with full global operating authority, we have the ability to service clients both domestically and overseas,” notes CEO Gregg Fahrenbruch.
According to the exemption grant released by the FAA, the company is authorized to fly the DJI Inspire 1 and 3D Robotics Aero M unmanned aircraft.
