Pictometry International Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of EagleView Technology Corp., has delivered imagery via drones through its CONNECT platform.
The research and testing were completed in Canada in collaboration with Avyon, a drone manufacturer and distributor with offices in New York and Quebec, Ontario. Partnered with Germany-based microdrones and France-based Delair-Tech, Avyon provides customized drone solutions for its North American clients.
The companies used the microdrones md4-1000 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). According to Pictometry, video and still photography footage captured during the testing shows the ability to obtain intelligent, geo-referenced imagery and also process and analyze the UAV-captured imagery in the company’s cloud-based viewing and analytical software, CONNECTExplorer.
Video of the imagery and the resulting ability to extract data through CONNECT analytical tools can be viewed here.
Pictometry says it is waiting for final approval for specific drone research exemptions from the Federal Aviation Administration and, thus, is continuing research experimentation in Canada. Once approved, Pictometry plans to conduct U.S. research of image capture, collision avoidance, image processing, and overall imagery and data delivery for workflow integration.
