South Hills School of Business & Technology, a career school with locations in central Pennsylvania, is sponsoring the State College Drone Racers, a newly approved, local MultiGP Scholastic Drone Racing Team, currently in its formative stages.
MultiGP is an amateur drone racing league and an official special interest group of the Academy of Model Aeronautics for first-person-view racing.
The organizer, Serafino Mazza IV, says, “We hope to create a fun and competitive environment for anyone high school-age or older that is interested in drone racing. We hope to bring the State College community together to engage in the sport of the future.”
In addition to sponsoring the Drone Racing Club, South Hills is introducing Discover Drones, a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) class series for teens (grades 7-12). The curriculum will provide 20 hours of hands-on learning using flight simulator software and drone building and flying.
South Hills also continues to offer its FAA Part 107 drone pilot certification classes, which were introduced earlier in 2017 at the State College main campus and have expanded to include the Altoona campus.
