Minnesota College Chooses UAS for Fall Campus Photos

The University of St. Thomas, a liberal arts school in St. Paul and Minneapolis, says it is deploying unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) around its campuses to capture footage of the school during the fall.

According to an announcement from the university, the school will be employing its vendor, Picture Factory, a drone company authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration for commercial UAS work.

The university says the drone will be flying over St. Thomas property, buildings or closed-off, unoccupied space. St. Thomas notes that the aircraft will not be flown directly over any people and will take off and land in “secure areas.”
