Law firm McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP (MDM&C) says it has helped secure a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Section 333 exemption on behalf of client Next Generation Aviation Services LLC (NGA).
Lincoln Park, N.J.-based NGA first filed its petition in December and, as of April, is now authorized to fly the DJI S1000+ unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for research and development, training, aerial photography for real estate and construction firms, assisting first responders, and enhancing public awareness of UAS, according to the exemption from the FAA.
MDM&C says this exemption is the first multiple-use Section 333 approval in the New York City metropolitan area.
According to firm partner Albert J. Pucciarelli, who heads MDM&C's aviation and UAV practice group, “NGA's rapid FAA approval was based, in large measure, on the application's focus on safety, training and public awareness, which are critical to the adoption of UAVs in the National Airspace System.’
MDM&C's aviation practice encompasses a full range of transactional, regulatory and litigation matters involving all categories of aircraft. The firm has approximately 300 lawyers in 12 offices in seven states.
