Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, an international law firm that supports the Small UAV Coalition, has hired David S. Turetsky as a partner in its public law and policy practice.
Among other initiatives, Turetsky – a former senior official at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) – will work closely with Akin Gump's Small UAV Coalition team.
“Rapid changes in technology are reshaping business competition, creating new and disruptive opportunities and threats and giving rise to complex policy and regulatory issues,” he says.
The team is currently pushing to secure government approval to test and operate small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in order to expand their use in commercial fields. Additionally, the law firm says, Turetsky’s experience in the area of first-responder policy will be a natural complement to the firm’s work in this growing area of U.S. investment.
Turetsky has handled complex U.S. and international matters throughout his more-than 30-year career in business, government and the legal industry and has been at the forefront of U.S. government initiatives surrounding cyber law and policy, privacy, data breach and competition law and policy concerns, according to the firm. He will reside in Akin Gump’s Washington office.
The Small UAV Coalition‘s members include 3DR, Aerialtronics, Airware, Amazon Prime Air, DJI Innovations, EHang, Google[x]’s Project Wing, GoPro, Parrot, PrecisionHawk, Sky-Futures and Skyward.
