Florida Sheriffs Make Arrests Over Contraband Drone Operation

Florida’s Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has arrested a mother and daughter for allegedly using a drone try to deliver contraband at a state prison.

According to a Facebook post from MCSO, the sheriff’s office caught the 40- and 22-year-old mother/daughter duo driving around the Martin Correctional Institute after prison guards spotted a drone hovering over the facility’s roof and notified MCSO.

The DJI drone was carrying tobacco and cell phones, headed for an inmate who was a relative of the mother and daughter.

MCSO says the mother and daughter were charged for introducing contraband into a correctional facility and aiding in the operation, respectively.
