RDO Integrated Controls, a provider of positioning solutions for customers in the construction, mining, engineering, survey and landfill industries, has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for commercial drone operations.
The company was OK’d to fly the senseFly eBee unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for mapping, training, agricultural and survey applications.
RDO Integrated Controls, an authorized senseFly distributor, also sells and supports various UAV units for customers across many industries.
Matt Hayes, mapping/UAV product supervisor for RDO Integrated Controls, comments, “We are extremely pleased with the news. Receiving our exemption is a positive step towards expanding the benefits of this technology within the commercial marketplace.”
The company is a division of RDO Equipment Co., which was founded in 1968 and sells agriculture, construction, environmental, positioning, surveying and irrigation equipment from manufacturers including John Deere, Vermeer and Topcon. RDO Equipment established RDO Integrated Controls in Billings, Mont., in 2009.
