FAA Aims to Form Center of Excellence for UAS Research

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is hoping to create a center of excellence for unmanned aerial system (UAS) research, perhaps during fiscal year 2015.

The FAA ‘will first need to develop a research agenda for the center, but it plans to begin the selection process later this year,’ according to website FierceGovernmentIT.

FAA Administrator Michael Huerta revealed the plans on Wednesday during a hearing of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
