The National Drone Show and NewBay Media say they are hosting the D.C. Drone Film Festival, to be held Dec. 6-8 in Washington, D.C., celebrating the work of drone videographers from across the country and around the world.
The film festival will enable those with videos captured using their unmanned aircraft systems to share them with fellow pilots, producers, equipment manufacturers, drone enthusiasts and the 7,000 video, broadcast and AV professionals attending the National Drone Show and Government Video Expo.
Projects should be submitted to the D.C. Drone Film Festival and should not exceed five minutes in length (or one minute in the Shorts category). The films should comprise at least 50% drone footage.
The projects can be submitted in any or all of the following six categories: Narrative, Nature, Sports, Architecture, Corporate/Industrial/Business and Shorts. The festival is open to content filmed anywhere on the globe.
The presenting sponsor is Blackmagic Design, and winners will receive a $250 cash prize in each category. The winning videos will be screened throughout the 2016 National Drone Show. Winners will also receive recognition across the NewBay Broadcast and Video network of sites and will be screened on both the Creative Planet network of sites and the Government Video website.
Entries will be evaluated on originality, technical expertise and cinematography/visuals. Deadline for submission is Nov. 11.
