The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) has created a new website dedicated to assisting small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) hobbyists with learning to fly and operating safely.
According to AMA, the resource, available here, helps users learn how and where to fly sUAS, shows a detailed U.S. map with thousands of flying locations (including AMA clubs), assists with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registration, and provides personal stories and experiences.
“The AMA’s sUAS program website is an important tool for keeping our fun and educational hobby safe for everyone,” says Bill Pritchett, AMA’s education director. “We will share up-to-date information as the AMA, in agreement with the FAA, continues to establish appropriate safety guidelines for emergent technologies, like drones, and novel facets of aeromodeling activity. In order to promote safety, all this information is available to the general public for free on our website.”
