The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently used an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to locate marijuana grow plots in the town of Minto, Ontario.

According to a news release from the OPP, on Sept. 23 at approximately 2:28 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP received a call from a property owner advising that he had located two large duffel bags containing marijuana plants in his field near Wellington Road 4.

Officers attended the property, and while speaking with the complainant, two males were observed running into the bush and then into an adjoining cornfield.

The police’s Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit attended the scene and joined the search with the assistance of a UAV.

In turn, the police were able to locate four separate marijuana grow plots planted in the cornfield.

The suspects were not located; however, officers seized approximately 300 mature marijuana plants, the OPP says.
