In the wake of the recent earthquake in Nepal and subsequent relief efforts from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Pope Francis has been given a small UAV of his own.
According to a report from ANSA, children from a Jesuit school gifted the device – decked out in Vatican colors – to the Pope on April 30.
The organizers of the gifting said in a statement to ANSA that UAVs “proved useful” in the earthquake aftermath, including “check[ing] the condition of structures” and “bringing relief to people.”
They also said that the UAV is a representation of “the values of technology in the service of man.”
