The Navarro County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) recently received an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to assist in crime-fighting and rescue operations.

According to the department, the aircraft is a DJI Inspire 1 Pro, equipped with a FLIR thermal camera for night-vision capabilities.

The new piece of technology was funded by District Attorney Lowell Thompson, the Don Parks/Chase Parks Foundation Fund and the NCSO’s Drug Seizure Fund.

“I would like to thank each one of you for your assistance in us being able to make this purchase,” the NCSO says in a news release. “I assure you, and our citizens, that it WILL be put to good use and will assist us in many future operations.”
