With a commercial exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Coral Springs, Fla.-based OpenSky Drones LLC (OSD) says it can carry out its mission of supplying safe and smart unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) services.

OSD says it has been approved for the following applications: motion picture and television filming, aerial and video photography, laser measurement, air quality measurements, and cellular tower and signal analysis inspections for the telecommunication industries.

The company also intends to use its experienced pilots to provide emergency drone services for police and fire departments in the South Florida area and to utilities companies for hurricane preparedness and disaster management.

“Our pilots have been training for this day where we can deploy smart and safe professional drone aerial services,” says Howard Melamed, company president. “We have been given the clearance for takeoff by the FAA for our operations – now it’s time to get to work.”
