Sentera Brings Double 4K Sensor for UAVs to Market

Sentera LLC, a provider of sensors, data management software and integrated drone platforms, has introduced its Double 4K sensor: a small, fully customizable twin-imager sensor for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

According to Sentera, the sensor is designed for use in harsh environments and includes configuration options tailored for use in precision agriculture and infrastructure inspections. Both cameras feature Sony focal plane arrays and are capable of capturing high-megapixel color stills, near-infrared and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data, and 4K video.

For agriculture applications, the Double 4K allows for production of both NDVI and RGB imagery in a single flight. In inspection applications, the cameras may be configured with narrow and wide field-of-view lenses – thus eliminating the use of mechanically complex optical zoom systems that can be damaged in high-shock, vibration or dust environments, explains Sentera.

The Double 4K fits the GoPro HERO 4 footprint and is universally compatible with any new or existing fixed-wing or quad-rotor UAV.

It is available for OEM integration or is fully integrated with a quick-release gimbaled payload designed for the Lockheed Martin Indago 2 UAV.

The sensor exports image and video data in standard formats in real time via the aircraft datalink, an interval Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection. Like all Sentera imagers, the Double 4K imagery integrates with the company’s AgVault and OnTop software platforms.

Sentera is offering the Double 4K at $2,499.
