HighGround Images LLC, headquartered in Phoenix, says it has been commercially approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fly unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for various applications, including motion picture and television, real estate, short-range inspection, mapping and survey, agriculture, and search and rescue.

The exemption grant states that the company, which petitioned the FAA on April 22, was approved to operate the DJI S900, DJI Inspire 1 and DJI Phantom 2 Vision.

“There has been an understandable reluctance from some organizations to use unsanctioned drone operators,” says Whitney Johnson, owner of HighGround Images. “Now that HighGround has the exemption and drone liability insurance, we hope to offer our services to an expanding market.”

The company says its pilots have accumulated hundreds of hours of flight time with drones, ultralight aircraft and manned aircraft.
