Pix4D says it has mated its Pix4Dcapture flight-planning app with Parrot’s Bebop 2 drone to create a 3D-modeling solution.

When used with the mobile app, the unmanned aerial vehicle, weighing 500 g, automatically scans selected areas by taking images customized for the Pix4Dmapper Mesh desktop software, where the images are processed to produce photorealistic 3D models, explains Pix4D.

“Thanks to our software, [the Bebop 2] can generate beautiful and interesting 3D models for real estate applications and even be used to 3D print your house,” says Christoph Strecha, CEO and founder of Pix4D.

Realtors, for example, can easily create 3D models by themselves, publish them online and show to prospective buyers who experience the property in 3D, says Pix4D.

The company notes the software is already compatible with the DJI Phantom 3 and Inspire 1 and will soon be available for the 3DR Solo drone.
