Ohio-based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology companies Event 38 and UmapAV have formed a partnership to deliver UAV-based analytics to the surveying and construction industries.

Akron-headquartered Event 38 designs and manufactures UAVs, specialized optical sensors and precision analytics data. Columbus’ UmapAV provides aerial data capture, custom analytics and consulting services.

Under the key distribution agreement, UmapAV will offer its proprietary software combined with Event 38’s flagship E384 drone to surveying and construction clients around the world.

The E384 drone has a two-hour flight time, carries a 1 kg payload and can cover a distance of 70 km. Combined with an Event 38 custom optical sensor, the E384 can fly 1,000 acres in a single flight and provide detail imaging at a 2 cm level.

“This partnership shows how drones can be used to produce analytics that were prohibitively expensive in the past,” says Jeff Taylor, CEO of Event 38. “Construction and engineering companies now have access to more up to-date and accurate information than ever before.”
