A county commissioner in Montana has received a Section 333 exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to commercially operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Steve White, Gallatin County commissioner, was granted an exemption on July 20 for the RCTimer, Cinestar and DJI Inspire 1 drones. The FAA document states, specifically, that White can operate the aircraft for “aerial photography and videography of property.”

According to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the commissioner has held a private pilot license since 1976 and is a builder of both model aircraft and multi-rotor UAVs. He intends to use his exemption for mostly real estate photography.
