Maptek, an Australian provider of software, hardware and services for the mining industry, says it has made a significant investment in DroneMetrex, a start-up company based in Adelaide, South Australia, that has developed technology for aerial photogrammetric mapping from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to Maptek, DroneMetrex's TopoDrone-100 UAV allows users to collect high-quality digital terrain data and imagery for assessment and integration into the day-to-day processes in industries such as mining, agriculture and infrastructure management.
DroneMetrex systems will integrate seamlessly with the standard Maptek mine planning Vulcan software system and Eureka regional mapping system, Maptek notes.
‘The Dronemetrex technology will be invaluable for many of our customers and will provide new and efficient ways to manage both large projects and regular spatial measurement challenges,’ comments Maptek General Manager Peter Johnson. ‘This rapid data acquisition capability will deliver immediate rewards to the resources industry.’
