The Know Before You Fly campaign has announced a new supporter in Hobby People, an unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) retailer with 18 locations in Southern California and Nevada.
Hobby People joins 10 other supporters of the campaign: the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Airlines for America, the Aerospace States Association, the Consumer Electronics Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, Futaba, Hobbico, Horizon Hobby, the National Association of Realtors, and the National Business Aviation Association.
“We welcome the support of Hobby People in educating people new to unmanned aircraft on how to fly safely and responsibly,” comments Dave Mathewson, executive director of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). “With more and more people discovering both the fun and value of unmanned aircraft, supporters like Hobby People help to fill the education gap and keep our skies safe for everyone.”
AMA is a co-founder of the Know Before You Fly campaign, along with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Small UAV Coalition. The campaign was launched in December in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
“UAS hold tremendous value as a hobby, business or educational tool,” says Mike Greenshields, vice president of Hobby People. “We are thrilled to be a member of this valuable campaign and to do our part to help all users of this technology to fly safely.”
