In order to “show the world that drones are good and can be used for many good purposes,” International Drone Day Boston 2016 is coming to the city on Saturday, May 7.

Created by Drone Day Boston, which describes itself as “a group of more than 300 pilots, builders and enthusiasts that love drone/UAV technology,” the event will offer activities such as virtual flight simulators, educational sessions, first-person-view racing, product demonstrations and stations for Federal Aviation Administration registration.

“Drones have a bad reputation, and even though many of us call our multi-rotors by different names, the public does associate our fantastic machines with the word ‘drone.’ We are here to make sure that drones are seen in a positive light,” the event description reads.

International Drone Day Boston will take place at the Innovation and Design Building on Dry Dock Ave. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Drone Day Boston notes that no drone flights will take place outside of the event space, which is near Logan International Airport.
