Rice Associates Inc., a geospatial services firm headquartered in Manassas, Va., has formed a partnership with Navigator CS LLC, a Leesburg, Va.-based provider of engineering and management consulting services, for the use of drones.

Navigator CS LLC, a disabled veteran-owned small business, holds a commercial unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration for the DJI Inspire 1.

Through the partnership, Rice Associates will be able to implement Navigator CS’ drone services to enhance surveying and photogrammetry capabilities. Rice offers in-house photogrammetry, LiDAR scanning, building information modeling, conventional surveying, and subsurface utility designation and mapping.

“By teaming up with Navigator CS, we will be able to safely, quickly, efficiently and economically obtain aerial imaging that supports our surveying and mapping projects, especially in applications where the operational features of drones make them the technology of choice,” comments Charlie Rice, president of Rice Associates Inc.
