The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUSVI) has announced Michael Huerta, administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as a keynote speaker at the upcoming XPONENTIAL conference and trade show.
Formerly Unmanned Systems, the event will take place May 2-5 in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Huerta will give the 9:30 a.m. keynote at Wednesday morning’s general session.
According to AUVSI, Huerta will cover “the FAA’s latest initiatives helping to ensure safe UAS operations for recreational use and commercial applications, including updates on the highly anticipated small UAS rule,” which the agency has said will be released by mid-June.
In addition, says AUVSI, Huerta will discuss “key initiatives such as the Pathfinder program, Section 333 exemption process and the micro UAS rulemaking committee, as well as the FAA’s work providing guidance to states and municipalities that are considering laws or regulations addressing UAS operations.”
