A professional photographer is enlisting the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to create portraits for clients.

Dale Stierman, owner of ‘Picture Perfect: Portrait and Design’ in Dubuque, Iowa, says he is one of the first to use UAVs for professional portrait photography, according to a report from KCRG.

Although the service costs an additional $400, Stierman told KCRG that his work is growing in popularity – including getting exposure in the Huffington Post and Cosmopolitan Magazine – and that he has been fielding calls from clients across the U.S.

The photographer told the news agency that he “speak[s] for all photographers” when they “wish [they] had a 100- or 200-foot ladder.” Now, a UAV can give him that height boost.

The Federal Aviation Administration, however, has said that it does not authorize the commercial use of UAVs and has even tried to crack down on some organizations that are violating the regulation.
