Thunder Bay, Ontario-based Sumac Forest Information Services Ltd., a forestry and natural resource consultancy engaged in resource mapping and modeling, has acquired an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Sumac bought the Lancaster Hawkeye Mk III from Toronto-based PrecisionHawk. The UAV, Sumac says, provides fast and accurate data acquisition from one of 10 available plug-and-play sensors, including visual, multispectral, thermal, video and LiDAR.

The UAV is an excellent fit with Sumac's continued growth in the geomatics field and will meet the increasing demand for aerial imaging services, the consultancy notes.
