Boston Start-Up Launches UAV Cinematography Contest

Fly4.Me, a Boston-based start-up providing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) services, has launched a UAV video contest.

The first-place winner will receive $350 in the form of a Visa gift card, the second-place winner will receive a Holy Stone quadcopter and the third-place winner will receive a Cheerwing Syma UAV.

Pilots are encouraged to submit a 30- to 60-second video showcasing their UAV flight and using the theme “Freedom” (in honor of Independence Day). Although the theme covers a broad spectrum, a pilot’s submission should be filmed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration regulation, the company notes.

Voting will be done on a peer scale, and finalists will be showcased on July 4. A panel of judges will announce the final winner on July 8, and the deadline for entries is June 30.

“This is a great way to encourage pilots to be active and help spread awareness about the UAV industry,” says Adam Kersnowski, CEO of Fly4.Me. “Our goal is to create something that is fun and brings more education on UAV capability.”

Submissions can be posted and voted on here. A detailed list of contest rules can be found here.
